CHED Commissioner Canapi Visits ASSCAT, Highlights Growth and University Readiness

Earlier today, Dr. Marita R. Canapi, Commissioner of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) and Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of the Agusan del Sur State College of Agriculture and Technology (ASSCAT), visited the College and was warmly welcomed by the ASSCAT community led by College President Joy C. Capistrano together with the Vice Presidents.

Her visit carried a significant meaning as she was able to see firsthand the grounds, facilities, and developments of ASSCAT. Touring the Smart Model Farm, the Crop and Soil Laboratory which houses the Soil Health and Tropical Crops Research Institute, other laboratories, and the Oil Palm Plantation Income-Generating Project (IGP), Dr. Canapi was presented with tangible proof of the institution’s strides in agriculture, research, and innovation.

This engagement plays an important role in giving the Board Chairperson and CHED Commissioner a grounded perspective of ASSCAT’s ongoing initiatives—an experience that resonates deeply at a time when the institution is under review for its transition into a full-fledged state university. The ability to witness ASSCAT’s projects and impact on the ground reinforces the broader narrative of growth, readiness, and commitment to public service that the College continues to pursue.

The visit also coincided with the holding of the Special Board of Trustees Meeting at the ASSCAT Main Campus.
