Dr. Joy C. Capistrano Delivers 5th State of the College Address during ASSCAT’s 30th Charter Anniversary Celebration

BUNAWAN, AGUSAN DEL SUR — March 1, 2025

As Agusan del Sur State College of Agriculture and Technology (ASSCAT) celebrates its 30th Charter Anniversary, College President Dr. Joy C. Capistrano delivered her 5th State of the College Address (SOCA), marking a reflective and forward-looking moment in the institution’s ongoing journey.

Held during the anniversary celebration themed “Paghimugso”—a Manobo term meaning “creation” or “beginning”—the SOCA encapsulated three decades of growth, resilience, and innovation. Dr. Capistrano shared the institution’s achievements over the past year and charted a vision for ASSCAT’s future as it accelerates its role in science, innovation, and sustainable agriculture.

Progress Rooted in Purpose

In her address, Dr. Capistrano emphasized ASSCAT’s continued strides in research, extension, and instruction. These include the expansion of industry partnerships, the diversification of research initiatives, and a renewed focus on inclusive and quality education.

Honoring Legacy, Embracing the Future

The celebration gathered faculty, staff, students, alumni, retirees, and institutional partners to honor the past and reimagine the future. Dr. Capistrano acknowledged the contributions of past and present leaders, dedicated faculty and staff, resilient students and alumni, and community and industry partners whose collective efforts have shaped ASSCAT’s story over the last 30 years.

A Call for Shared Vision

As ASSCAT steps into its fourth decade, Dr. Capistrano called on all stakeholders to continue working together toward a common goal—realizing ASSCAT’s vision, living out its mission, and upholding the values that guide the institution.

“For everything, to God be the highest glory,” she concluded. “Salamat kadiyaw!”
