Bunawan, Agusan del Sur – January 8, 2024
The Agusan del Sur State College of Agriculture and Technology (ASSCAT) opened the new year with a momentous first regular flag-hoisting ceremony for 2024, held at the ASSCAT Sports and Socio-cultural Center.
Gracing the occasion was College President Dr. Joy C. Capistrano, joined by ASSCAT’s executive officials, employees, and student leaders. The event was more than just a ceremonial opening—it marked the dawn of a transformative chapter in the institution’s history.
In her keynote address, Dr. Capistrano delivered a stirring message that lit the path forward for ASSCAT’s evolution into a full-fledged state university: Agusan del Sur State University (ADSSU). Her speech resonated with purpose and hope, outlining a future built on:
Academic excellence
Innovative and industry-relevant programs
Vibrant student life and services
Stronger community engagement
“We are poised for a positive metamorphosis,” Dr. Capistrano said, “one that will propel us beyond the boundaries of what we once thought possible.”
A highlight of the ceremony was the formal introduction of Dr. Janice S. Dini-ay as the newly appointed Vice President for Student Affairs and Services. Her entry into the executive team reflects ASSCAT’s clear priority on enhancing student welfare and engagement in the years to come.
The ceremony served as a powerful rallying point for all members of the ASSCAT community. As the institution sets its sights on universityhood, the sense of unity and purpose was palpable among attendees.
As ASSCAT embarks on this historic transition, the College invites students, faculty, alumni, partners, and stakeholders to be part of this exciting journey toward becoming Agusan del Sur State University (ADSSU).
