The Agusan del Sur State College of Agriculture and Technology (ASSCAT) has officially secured trademark registration for its institutional seal under the Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines (Republic Act No. 8293).
With this recognition, the ASSCAT seal is now legally protected against unauthorized use, reproduction, imitation, and application on products, services, and promotional materials. This milestone strengthens the college’s institutional identity and ensures legal safeguards for its official insignia.
“This is a significant milestone for the college—one that reinforces our institutional identity and protects the values we stand for,” said College President Dr. Joy C. Capistrano, expressing gratitude to all who contributed to the successful registration.
Vice President for Research, Innovation, and Development Extension (RIDE) Dr. Ferdinand Dumalagan added, “This registration is a step forward in ensuring the integrity of our institution’s legacy. It safeguards ASSCAT’s reputation while also elevating the pride of our community.”
ASSCAT emphasized that any misuse of the seal—particularly actions that mislead, deceive, or cause public confusion—constitutes a violation of intellectual property law and will prompt legal action. The institution reminds all stakeholders that written authorization is required for any legitimate use of the trademark.
This development reaffirms the college’s commitment to preserving its identity and values for future generations.
