Agusan del Sur Indigenous People (IP) Conference 2022

In celebration of National Indigenous People (IP) Month, the Agusan del Sur State College of Agriculture and Technology (ASSCAT) and its MUSEO Tu’ Agusan project, in partnership with the National Commission on Indigenous People (NCIP), conducted the Agusan del Sur Indigenous People (IP) Conference 2022 last October 3-5, 2022 at ASSCAT Research, Innovation, Development and Extension (RIDE) Building, San Teodoro, Bunawan, Agusan del Sur.
The year’s conference was held to commemorate National Indigenous People (IP) Month and the Free & Prior Informed Consent Conference in the conduct of the MUSEO Tu’ Agusan research. The event highlighted two plenary topics entitled: Indigenous Peoples Act (IPRA) of 1997 by the NCIP Provincial Officer of Agusan del Sur, Ms. Rosemarie P. Mordeno, MPA, and Role of Women in the Tribal Council by the Chairwoman of the Provincial IP Women Council, Bae Mahubay Elvira G. Catuburan, RM, MBA.
The event was attended by one hundred (100) participants, coming from the Municipal Tribal Chieftain, and IP Member Representatives from the fourteen municipalities of Agusan del Sur, NCIP Personnel, MUSEO Tu’ Agusan Researchers, MUSEO Tu’ Agusan Team, selected ASSCAT Students, and staff.
The conference became successful because of the full support of ASSCAT College President Dr. Joy C. Capistrano, together with the top management.
