Agusan del Sur State College of Agriculture and Technology (ASSCAT) has earned the 1st runner-up spot in the national competition recognizing the MOST INNOVATIVE HEIs in PROMOTING PEACE and IP EDUCATION. This prestigious accolade underscores ASSCAT’s dedication to integrating Indigenous Peoples (IP) and Peace Education into higher education, fostering cultural inclusivity and sustainability.
 
The competition, held during the 1st Indigenous Peoples and Peace Studies Higher Education Summit on July 4 and 5, 2024, at Bukidnon State University (BukSU) in Malaybalay, Bukidnon, showcased exemplary efforts from institutions nationwide. BukSU claimed the championship, while the University of Southeastern Philippines (USEP) secured the 2nd runner-up position.
 
ASSCAT’s achievement highlights its innovative approaches and concrete outcomes in promoting peace and embracing cultural diversity within the educational framework. The award ceremony celebrated these institutions’ contributions, emphasizing the importance of Indigenous knowledge and peace education in Philippine higher education.
