2,527 students of Agusan del Sur State College of Agriculture and Technology (ASSCAT) were granted 3,000 pesos each as educational cash assistance. The distribution took place on May 5, 2024, at the ASSCAT Sports and Sociocultural Center, marking a pivotal moment for the student community.

 

Led by Senator Imee R. Marcos, the distribution event saw the active involvement of key figures including DSWD Caraga Regional Director Mari Flor Dolloga, Team Eddiebong’s Congressman Adolph Edward G. Plaza, and ASSCAT College President Joy C. Capistrano. President Capistrano expressed heartfelt gratitude to all contributors, particularly Senator Marcos and Congressman Plaza, for their unwavering support towards ASSCAT. Notably, both political figures played instrumental roles in the conversion of ASSCAT into the Agusan del Sur State University (ADSSU) through House Bill 8263 and RA 11586.

 

Highlighting the impact of the assistance, President Capistrano emphasized that a substantial portion of the beneficiaries are enrolled in agriculture programs and hail from indigenous communities. The initiative not only fosters educational advancement but also underscores the importance of uplifting marginalized groups in pursuing higher education.
