The Agusan del Sur State College of Agriculture and Technology (ASSCAT) proudly hosted the 𝙆𝙤𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙢𝙥𝙤𝙧𝙖𝙧𝙮𝙤𝙣𝙜 𝙂𝙖𝙢𝙚𝙡𝙖𝙣 𝙋𝙞𝙡𝙞𝙥𝙞𝙣𝙤 (𝙐𝙋 𝙆𝙤𝙣𝙩𝙧𝙖-𝙂𝙖𝙋𝙞) 𝙒𝙤𝙧𝙠𝙨𝙝𝙤𝙥 today, January 10, 2025, at the ASSCAT Sports and Socio-Cultural Center.
Led by the renowned ethnic music and dance ensemble from the University of the Philippines Diliman, UP Kontra-GaPi brought to life the vibrant heritage of Philippine indigenous instruments through an immersive and interactive performance-workshop. Participants, including faculty, staff and students from the Saliao Performing Arts Guild, celebrated art, music, and dance that connect us to our roots and spark our creative spirits.
This workshop is part of UP Kontra-GaPi’s month-long cultural caravan across Caraga Region, endorsed by CHED Caraga Regional Office, aimed at empowering communities and highlighting the significance of Filipino cultural identity. As a key participant, ASSCAT takes pride in fostering artistic collaboration and cultural preservation under the leadership of ASSCAT President Dr. Joy C. Capistrano.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Angelo Jimenez, President of the University of the Philippines, for supporting initiatives that bring Philippine culture closer to communities, and to Dr. J. Prospero “Popoy” de Vera III, (
Prof Popoy De Vera) Chairman of the
Commission on Higher Education(CHED), for championing programs that celebrate and preserve Filipino heritage.
Special thanks also to Professor Pedro R. Abraham Jr., the founder-leader of UP Kontra-GaPi, and the entire team for their passion, talent, and dedication to Filipino arts and culture. Your workshop has truly inspired our community and reinforced ASSCAT’s commitment to supporting indigenous and creative expressions.
Salamat kadiyaw, UP Kontra-GaPi!
