Earlier today, faculty, staff, students, and alumni of the Agusan del Sur State College of Agriculture and Technology (ASSCAT) rolled up their sleeves and took part in the Regular Municipal Clean-Up Day in Bunawan, showing strong support for the townโs call for collective actionโor what we locally call pagtambayayong.
In line with Executive Order No. 001, s. 2025, which designates the first and third Friday of each month as clean-up days, the initiative aims to prevent the spread of dengue and promote a cleaner environment.
ASSCATโs clean-up efforts focused on the stretch of the national highway fronting the main campus. Volunteers gathered sacks of waste, cleared canals, cut overgrown grass, and removed potential mosquito breeding sites. A follow-up cleanup also took place within the campus grounds.
The activity was led by College President Dr. Joy C. Capistrano and VP for Administration, Finance, and Planning Dr. Janice S. Dini-ay, together with NSTP-ROTC officers, aspirants, and coordinators.
โEnvironmental preservation is not just a dutyโitโs part of how we care for each other as a community,โ Dr. Capistrano said, encouraging everyone to maintain clean surroundings not just on designated days but in their daily lives.
Dr. Dini-ay also called on students to live out ASSCATโs values by being โsensitive to the environment,โ one of the collegeโs graduate attributes.
Through this activity, ASSCAT reaffirms its commitment to working hand-in-hand with the Municipality of Bunawan in building safer, healthier, and cleaner spaces for all.
