The Agusan del Sur State College of Agriculture and Technology (ASSCAT) shared its experiences and best practices in promoting volunteerism during the PNVSCA Online TV Interview held on November 8, 2025.
Representing the institution, Engr. Janice C. Puspos, Executive Assistant III and Administration Extension Coordinator, discussed how volunteerism remains active in the ASSCAT community through programs such as Pagtambayayong, “Serve with Joy” outreach activities, clean-up and donation drives, and the annual “Run with Joy: Fun Run for a Cause.”
She noted that volunteerism is not limited to field participation but now extends to digital platforms, where students, faculty and staff engage in advocacy and information-sharing efforts—reflecting the College’s continuing commitment to inclusive and quality education (SDG 4) and reduced inequalities (SDG 10).
Engr. Puspos also highlighted the College’s partnership with the Philippine National Volunteer Service Coordinating Agency (PNVSCA), which strengthens the integration of volunteerism in instruction, research, extension, and production. These collaborations exemplify Partnerships for the Goals (SDG 17), fostering multi-sector cooperation for community development.
Through sustained outreach activities—such as tree-growing, clean-up drives, and health-focused initiatives like blood donation and fun runs—ASSCAT also supports actions aligned with Climate Action (SDG 13) and Good Health and Well-being (SDG 3).
Under the leadership of Dr. Joy C. Capistrano, ASSCAT continues to nurture a community that values compassion, selflessness, and shared responsibility, ensuring that volunteerism remains a living practice that contributes meaningfully to both local development and the global sustainable agenda.
