This National Women’s Month, Pakighinabi continues to celebrate women who uplift communities and shape the future!

In this episode, we feature Ms. Jovelyn Britania, fondly known as Ate Kulot, a dedicated utility worker at ASSCAT whose cheerful outlook and unwavering commitment bring positivity to those around her. Her story proves that no matter the role, women contribute meaningfully to society’s progress.

Aligned with the 2025 National Women’s Month theme, “Babae sa Lahat ng Sektor, Aangat ang Bukas sa Bagong Pilipinas,” Ate Kulot’s resilience and dedication remind us that every woman plays a part in building a brighter future.

Continuing its National Women’s Month 2025 observance, the Agusan del Sur State College of Agriculture and Technology (ASSCAT) highlighted the strength, leadership, and contributions of women during the flag-raising ceremony at the Sports and Socio-Cultural Center. With the theme “Babae sa Lahat ng Sektor, Aangat at Bukas sa Bagong Pilipinas,” the event reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to gender equality and inclusivity.

The ceremony was led by College President Joy C. Capistrano, with the participation of Vice President for Administration, Finance, and Planning, VP Janice S. Dini-ay; Dr. Fernando L. Marzo, Jr., representing Vice President for Research, Innovation, Development, and Extension, Dr. Ferdinand A. Dumalagan; Executive Assistant III, Engr. Janice C. Puspos; and College of Agriculture Dean, Dr. Sarah Ravelo.

In her address, Dr. Capistrano drew inspiration from Proverbs 31:25-26, emphasizing that an empowered woman embodies strength, wisdom, and resilience. She encouraged women to embrace their individuality, carve their own paths, and pursue leadership roles in their respective fields.

VP Dumalagan centered his message on the crucial role of women in research and innovation, highlighting their contributions to advancing knowledge and driving progress in various fields.

Dr. Ravelo emphasized the biblical virtues of women, particularly their role in marriage, highlighting the importance of women as strong and supportive partners to their husbands, nurturing their families while also contributing to society.

Meanwhile, Engr. Puspos shed light on the rationale behind the Women’s Month celebration, reminding everyone about the significance of this annual celebration, and the ongoing and upcoming efforts to achieve gender equality, which emphasizes the importance of recognizing women’s contributions in all sectors.

As ASSCAT continues to celebrate women, the institution remains committed to fostering a future where every woman is empowered to lead, innovate, and inspire—Babae sa Lahat ng Sektor, Aangat at Bukas sa Bagong Pilipinas.
