Future Educators Shine at SINAG 2024: ASSCAT CTE Holds Inspiring Student Congress

BUNAWAN, Agusan del Sur – With passion, purpose, and a promise to serve, 410 fourth-year students from the College of Teacher Education (CTE) gathered for SINAG 2024 Student Congress at the ASSCAT Sports and Socio-cultural Center—a culminating event designed to prepare future educators for their preservice deployment.

Held under the auspices of the Agusan del Sur State College of Agriculture and Technology (ASSCAT), the event featured enriching plenary talks, practical coaching sessions, and reflective activities led by distinguished speakers from the Department of Education. The program aimed to equip student-teachers with both competence and confidence as they transition from classroom learners to field-ready mentors.

In the afternoon’s solemn segment, the spirit of mentorship and service was honored in a symbolic candle lighting and pinning ceremony—highlighted by the presence of ASSCAT President Dr. Joy C. Capistrano, along with VP Carmelo S. Llanto (Academic Affairs and Quality Assurance), VP Janice S. Dini-ay (Student Affairs and Services), and the full CTE team led by Dean Shiryl T. Ytoc.

Dr. Capistrano, in her keynote message, inspired the students to embrace the institution’s core values—summarized in the guiding call to “ARISE and SOAR.” She emphasized that these values are not just institutional mantras but powerful principles that will help them overcome adversity and serve with excellence in the communities they will touch.

The pinning ceremony, a deeply symbolic moment, affirmed the students’ readiness to embark on their preservice teaching journey. Each pin worn was a quiet oath—of dedication, passion, and unwavering pursuit of educational impact.

Good luck, future mentors! Your light now shines brighter than ever.
