From Seeds to Sustainability: ASSCAT Joins PCA in Boosting Coconut Farming in Agusan del Sur

College President, Dr. Joy C.  Capistrano paid a courtesy visit to the Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA) Central Office in Quezon City and met with Administrator Dr. Dexter R. Buted to discuss the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between ASSCAT and PCA under the Massive Coconut Planting Program (MCPP).

The partnership aims to enhance the productivity and income of coconut farmers in Agusan del Sur through the establishment of coconut nurseries and the production of 28,600 high-quality coconut seedlings, funded by PCA with a total of ₱2.717 million.

Under the MOA, ASSCAT will serve as a partner agency responsible for producing and supplying the seedlings, establishing and maintaining nurseries, and ensuring the delivery of healthy, pest-free planting materials to designated drop-off points. Meanwhile, PCA will oversee project implementation, monitoring, and technical assistance to ensure program success.

Aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) particularly SDG 1 (No Poverty), SDG 2 (Zero Hunger), SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), this collaboration underscores ASSCAT’s role in promoting sustainable agriculture, community empowerment, and rural development through strong institutional partnerships.
