DAY 2 | RACE Against Suicide Training

The second day of the “Mental Health Matters through Training on RACE Against Suicide Module 1: Basic Skills for All Personnel” concluded today with deeper engagement and stronger resolve from participants to act as mental health gatekeepers within their respective roles.

Today’s session focused on the crafting of Safety Plans for both students and employees, equipping participants with practical tools to address and respond to mental health crises. Facilitated by esteemed resource speakers Ms. Maristela C. Gales, RGC, and Ms. May A. Ocarez, RGC, the sessions guided participants through strategies to recognize warning signs, manage high-risk situations, and ensure timely intervention.

One of the key highlights of the day was the signing of the Pledge of Commitment, where participants affirmed their role as mental health gatekeepers.

In a heartfelt message, VP Carmelo S. Llanto of Academic Affairs and Quality Assurance, emphasized the need for a supportive environment to foster both academic and emotional well-being at ASSCAT.

This training once again reflects ASSCAT’s dedication to promoting mental health, aligned with its pursuit of holistic education and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDGs 3, 4, and 16.
