Building a Culture of Quality: AACCUP Leads Transformative Sessions

Bunawan, Agusan del Sur – January 30–31, 2024

In a bold step toward academic distinction and institutional growth, the Agusan del Sur State College of Agriculture and Technology (ASSCAT) hosted a two-day Institutional Accreditation Orientation led by the esteemed evaluators of the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP).

Held from January 30 to 31, 2024, the orientation brought together ASSCAT’s top management, faculty, and staff for an intensive, empowering experience designed to equip the institution as it embarks on its journey toward institutional accreditation.

Wisdom from AACCUP’s Finest

The event was graced by key AACCUP figures whose leadership and expertise elevated the sessions:

  • Dr. Gregorio Z. Gamboa, Jr., AACCUP President – offered strategic guidance drawn from his years of leadership in quality assurance.

  • Dr. Milabel E. Ho, AACCUP Executive Director – energized the group with forward-thinking insights and a creative approach to institutional development.

  • Mr. Dominic T. Martinez, Head of AACCUP’s ICT Unit – provided practical tools and technical strategies to support digital transformation in accreditation processes.

Together, their presence created a rich environment of knowledge-sharing, reflection, and inspiration—turning what could have been a routine orientation into a transformative institutional milestone.

Preparing for the Journey Ahead

“This isn’t just a checklist—it’s a survival kit,” remarked one participant, echoing the sentiment that this orientation was more than preparation. It was a mindset shift.

Institutional Accreditation is a mark of excellence awarded to higher education institutions that meet or surpass standards in educational quality, leadership, governance, student services, research, extension, and support systems. For ASSCAT, this process is not just about compliance—it’s about aspiration.

A Shared Commitment to Quality

The orientation not only clarified the accreditation process but also strengthened the collective commitment of the ASSCAT community to pursue excellence, innovation, and relevance in all facets of institutional life. With the support of its academic and administrative workforce, and with the guidance of AACCUP, ASSCAT is poised to take its next significant leap.

This initiative aligns with ASSCAT’s vision to become a globally engaged institution of sustainable agriculture and innovation—a vision now brought closer by the renewed focus on institutional quality and continuous improvement.
