Innovation in agri-tech is getting a solid boost in Agusan del Sur.
The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Caraga has committed ₱3 million to support the launch of an Agri-based Technology Business Incubator (TBI) at the Agusan del Sur State College of Agriculture and Technology (ASSCAT). The initiative aims to help turn promising ideas in agriculture into real, market-ready solutions—aligned with the goals of the Philippine Innovation Act (RA 11293).
The ceremonial turnover of funds was held on February 27, 2024, at Watergate Hotel in Butuan City. It was attended by DOST Caraga Regional Director Engr. Noel M. Ajoc, ASSCAT President Dr. Joy C. Capistrano, and ASSCAT TBI Leader Engr. Jack Bertulfo.
Once operational, the incubator will provide entrepreneurs with access to shared facilities, technical mentorship, and business development support. For local agri-preneurs, this means stronger opportunities to develop their ideas, reach wider markets, and contribute to rural development through innovation.
It’s a promising step forward not just for ASSCAT, but for the entire region’s agri-tech landscape.
