ANNOUNCEMENT: Resumption of On-Site Classes
As part of its continuing efforts to promote a safe, healthy, and drug-free workplace, the Agusan del Sur State College of Agriculture and Technology (ASSCAT) conducted a scheduled drug testing today, June 25, 2025, for all non-regular personnel, including Casual, Contractual, and Job Order workers.
This wellness-driven initiative aligns with Republic Act No. 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002), Executive Order No. 66, s. 2018, and the College’s institutional Drug-Free Workplace Policy. It also advances ASSCAT’s commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being), SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), and SDG 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions).
According to Supervising Administrative Officer Ruth S. Desamparo, MPA, the drug testing is part of ASSCAT’s preventive and holistic approach to workforce development. “This is not driven by suspicion or enforcement. It is a wellness initiative meant to support our people and ensure a safe, responsible, and nurturing workplace,” she said.
She also shared that following the testing of non-regular personnel, the College will roll out the same scheduled drug testing for plantilla employees, including both faculty members and administrative staff.
The activity was conducted in partnership with a DOH-accredited testing center, ensuring strict confidentiality and adherence to health and safety protocols.
With this initiative, ASSCAT continues to uphold integrity and accountability while fostering a workplace that prioritizes the health and well-being of all employees.
