ASSCAT Shines in National Agri-Quiz Bee, Places 13th Among 36 Competing SUCs

Batangas City, Philippines — October 29, 2025

In an impressive showcase of agricultural knowledge and student excellence, the Agusan del Sur State College of Agriculture and Technology (ASSCAT) placed 13th among 36 participating universities and colleges in the Nationwide Agri-Quiz Bee held in Batangas as part of the Agricultural Training Institute–International Training Center on Pig Husbandry’s (ATI-ITCPH) 3rd Agri-Youth Congress.

The event gathered 108 students from agriculture and veterinary medicine programs nationwide, who competed through three rounds covering topics in pig husbandry, including production, breeding, farm management, swine health, and nutrition.

In its debut participation, ASSCAT earned 68 points, just 10 points behind the second runner-up, Central Luzon State University (CLSU). Leading the competition were Pampanga State Agricultural University (Champion) and Batangas State University, the National Engineering University, Lobo Campus (1st runner-up).

Aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Zero Hunger, Quality Education, and Responsible Consumption and Production, the competition promoted agricultural literacy and sustainability among the youth, highlighting their role in advancing food security and responsible resource management.
