The Agusan del Sur State College of Agriculture and Technology (ASSCAT) proudly marks a milestone with the registration of its first utility model, titled “A Creping Machine” (Registration No. PH 2/2025/050005), issued on June 25, 2025. Developed by Mariam A. Bumaras, Daylen Ann M. Hermosilla, and Engr. Jack O. Bertulfo, the machine converts raw rubber latex into rubber crepe—a refined and high-value material derived from rubber trees.
This innovation directly supports Agusan del Sur’s rubber industry, which comprises the majority of Caraga Region’s 13,176 hectares of rubber plantations. It affirms ASSCAT’s growing role in advancing science-driven agricultural technologies aimed at increasing productivity, adding value to local resources, and empowering rural communities through innovation.
ASSCAT extends its gratitude to the Innovation and Development Office for its instrumental role in facilitating the successful registration of this utility model with the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines.
