Agusan del Sur State College of Agriculture and Technology (ASSCAT) has joined the ranks of the country’s most quality-driven institutions, earning the Philippine Quality Award (PQA) Level II: Proficiency in Quality Management. The award was conferred by the Office of the President on September 5, 2025, at Heroes Hall, Malacañang Palace.

The Philippine Quality Award stands as the highest national recognition for excellence in organizational performance across both public and private sectors. Instituted through Republic Act No. 9013, the PQA promotes performance excellence by recognizing organizations that demonstrate outstanding commitment to quality, productivity, and customer satisfaction aligned with the principles of continuous improvement and global competitiveness. The award serves as a benchmark for world-class performance, encouraging institutions to strive for excellence in governance, service delivery, and innovation. 

The recognition affirms ASSCAT’s distinct commitment to building strong systems, practicing continuous improvement, and delivering quality service in higher education. Out of 18 national awardees this year, ASSCAT stood among only ten institutions granted Level II, underscoring the rarity and rigor of reaching this stage.

PQA Champions, led by College President Dr. Joy C. Capistrano, together with Vice President for Academic Affairs and Quality Assurance Dr. Carmelo S. Llanto, and PQA Focals Ms. Liezl May G. Perez and Engr. Janice C. Puspos, received the honor. They were joined by CHED Commissioner and ASSCAT BOT Chair Dr. Marita R. Canapi, who affirmed her support for ASSCAT’s pursuit of excellence.

More than a recognition, this milestone is dedicated to ASSCAT’s workforce—the faculty, staff, and students whose commitment, discipline, and hard work have made the college a model for quality in public service and education.
