Congressman Adolph Edward “Eddiebong” G. Plaza of the Province of Agusan del Sur, together with Vice Governor Patricia Anne “Ate Pat” Plaza, visited the Agusan del Sur State College of Agriculture and Technology (ASSCAT) on October 15, 2025 for a meeting and fellowship with the college officials and faculty researchers.

The visit served as an opportunity for a “kumustahan” and updates session on several key institutional projects and initiatives currently being implemented or proposed by ASSCAT. Among the major topics discussed were the status of the university conversion, preparations for the World Soils Day celebration, and updates on various research and development projects.

Updates were also shared on the institution’s international collaborations, including ASSCAT scholars under the Griffith University partnership and the USAD scholarship program.

Congressman Plaza and Vice Governor Plaza expressed their continued strategic support for ASSCAT’s initiatives, emphasizing the provincial government’s commitment to advancing agricultural innovation, research, and infrastructure development in partnership with the college.

Representing ASSCAT during the meeting were Dr. Ferdinand A. Dumalagan, Vice President for Research, Innovation, Development, and Extension Affairs; Dr. Carmelo S. Llanto, Vice President for Academic Affairs and Quality Assurance; and Ms. Ruth S. Desamparo, Supervising Administrative Officer, along with faculty researchers and laboratory in-charges.

The collaborative dialogue reaffirmed the strong partnership between Team Eddiebong and ASSCAT, anchored on their shared vision of fostering sustainable agricultural growth and ensuring the successful conversion of ASSCAT into a full-fledged university.
