Calm skies set the stage for an intense morning of games on the second day of the LGU Sportsfest 2025, one of the highlights of the 125th Civil Service Anniversary celebration honoring government workers. Players dug deep in giant volleyball rallies, tug-of-war pulls, and other events that kept the energy high and the crowd engaged. For ASSCAT, it was a day of great fun, teamwork, and light moments that captured the spirit of service and camaraderie.
Municipal Mayor Sylvia B. Elorde led the festivities with her inspiring presence, while Vice Mayor Ednard Gil G. Elorde added to the energy by showing strong support for the participants. ASSCAT President Dr. Joy C. Capistrano, through the ASSCAT Human Resource Management Office, emphasized the role of sports and cultural activities in uplifting morale and promoting wellness among public servants, highlighting the value of employee engagement in strengthening unity within the institution.
The spotlight shifted to music in the afternoon with the singing competitions, where ASSCAT faculty members proudly showcased their talents. Ms. Cheryl Bacanto secured second place in the Solo (45 years old and below, Inter-Agency) category, while Ms. Josephine Madayag also bagged second place in the Solo (46 and up, Inter-Agency) division. Meanwhile, the duet of Mr. David Marapao and Mr. Enrique Biñas Jr. delivered a heartfelt performance that resonated with the audience.
As Day 2 closed, the Sportsfest once again proved it is more than just games. It is a meaningful celebration of the civil service—where government workers step out of their usual roles to embrace wellness, friendship, and the joy of shared experiences. The excitement builds tomorrow as the competition heads into its final day on September 26.
