Bunawan’s LGU Sportsfest 2025 burst into action today, September 24, as one of the highlights of the 125th Civil Service Anniversary celebration, which honors the dedication and service of government workers nationwide. Municipal Mayor Sylvia B. Elorde and Vice Mayor Ednard Gil G. Elorde opened the festivities, welcoming nine competing teams, including Agusan del Sur State College of Agriculture and Technology (ASSCAT).
ASSCAT brought the energy early with a vibrant Hataw Zumba that had faculty, staff, and students moving in sync and setting the tone for a day full of smiles and cheers. The college celebrated on the main stage as Roselyn Ebero was crowned Ms. Sportsfest 2025, while Ephraim Lagare earned first runner-up for Mr. Sportsfest, drawing loud applause from supporters.
Courts and fields across Bunawan were alive with volleyball spikes, basketball fast breaks, tug-of-war faceoffs, table tennis rallies, giant volleyball, and human dama—all played today and packed with excitement. The Sportsfest offers a joyful break from the daily grind, promotes mental wellness, and reflects the Sustainable Development Goals on good health, well-being, and strong partnerships, making it a fitting tribute to civil servants’ hard work and resilience.
With strong backing from ASSCAT President Dr. Joy C. Capistrano, whose support underscores the value of sports in fostering wellness, camaraderie, and community spirit, ASSCAT continues to show determination on every front.
