ASSCAT Scouts Take Action For The Environment
On August 28, 2025, Agusan del Sur State College of Agriculture and Technology (ASSCAT) convened a Special Board of Trustees (BOT) Meeting at the Main Campus, presided over by Dr. Marita R. Canapi, Commissioner of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) and Chairperson of the ASSCAT BOT.
The meeting focused on crucial agenda items that chart the direction of ASSCAT’s development. Among the highlights was the election of two new Private Sector Representatives to the Board, Hon. Dinah Lyra D. Pantaleon and Hon. Arnie N. Arreza. The Board also deliberated on the proposal to establish additional research centers in ASSCAT and addressed financial matters essential to the College’s continuing programs and services.
College President Joy C. Capistrano, who serves as Vice Chair of the BOT, played a central role in the proceedings, representing the institution’s priorities and perspectives while working closely with the Board in shaping decisions that will impact ASSCAT’s future. Her leadership, together with the presence of BOT members in quorum—both onsite and virtually—ensured substantive and productive discussions. Resource persons were also invited to provide expertise on specific subject matters.
Also present was CHED Caraga Regional Director Dr. Nelia A. Alibin, who took the occasion to present ASSCAT with a Plaque of Commendation for its recent achievement in the World University Rankings for Innovation (WURI) 2025—an inspiring recognition that complemented the day’s deliberations.
Through the guidance of Chairperson Dr. Marita R. Canapi and Vice Chair President Joy C. Capistrano, the Special BOT Meeting reinforced the Board’s resolve to advance ASSCAT’s development and readiness for universityhood.
