The Agusan del Sur State College of Agriculture and Technology (ASSCAT) formally opened the First Semester of Academic Year 2025–2026 with the College Orientation held today, August 11, at the ASSCAT Sports and Socio-Cultural Center.
The program began with a ceremonial parade from the University’s iconic main gate to the venue, symbolizing the students’ transition into a new phase of academic life. The ASSCAT Saliao Performing Arts Guild set the tone with an opening cultural performance that showcased the institution’s commitment to preserving and celebrating local heritage.
This year’s orientation also coincided with the commemoration of ASEAN Month. Faculty and staff donned traditional attire representing ASEAN member states, while students waved the flags of ASEAN nations—symbolizing unity, cultural diversity, and the college’s role in promoting regional awareness.
Newly admitted students received a comprehensive briefing on academic policies, institutional services, student rights and responsibilities, welfare and development programs, and co-curricular opportunities. The event also served to formally introduce the faculty members and administrative personnel who will play key roles in student development and support.
A highlight of the program was the recognition of the Top 10 performers in the ASSCAT Admission Test, a distinction that underscored the academic potential of the incoming cohort.
In her welcome message, President Joy C. Capistrano encouraged students to embrace both the intellectual and personal dimensions of their college experience.
“My hope for you is this, that during your stay here, you will not only gain knowledge and skills, but also build friendships, memories, and a deep love for ASSCAT and the community we serve.”
The College Orientation was organized by the Office of Student Affairs and Services in collaboration with the Supreme Student Government. This year’s program carried the theme of subida or climb, reflecting the determination, growth, and resilience expected of students as they work toward their academic and personal goals.
Welcome, Iskolar ng Bayan, to the climb ahead.
