Today, the Agusan del Sur State College of Agriculture and Technology (ASSCAT) proudly joined the Provincial Government of Agusan del Sur for the grand opening of the 33rd Naliyagan Festival — a vibrant celebration of culture, identity, and unity held at the Naliyagan Grounds in Prosperidad.
The ASSCAT delegation was led by College President Dr. Joy C. Capistrano, together with the institution’s Vice Presidents, Deans, and Directors, in full support of this annual province-wide festivity.
The festival officially opened through a ceremonial program headed by Governor Santiago B. Cane Jr., Vice Governor Samuel E. Tortor, First District Representative Alfelito Bascug, and Second District Representative Adolph Edward “Eddiebong” Plaza.
As part of the opening cultural showcase, the ASSCAT Saliao Performing Arts Guild delivered a captivating performance, sharing the stage with Bae Abina Coguit — a National Living Treasure and one of the last master embroiderers of the Agusan Manobo tribe.
The Naliyagan Festival continues to serve as a proud platform to honor Agusan del Sur’s rich cultural heritage, with local artisans exhibiting their skills in traditional and modern crafts such as weaving, wood carving, beadwork, and painting.
Complementing the celebration are food booths and trade exhibitions, showcasing local products, delicacies, and innovations from across the province — including ASSCAT’s very own.
Together with the Provincial Government and partner communities, ASSCAT remains committed to fostering unity, cultural appreciation, and sustainable local development.
