1,500 ASSCAT Scholars Empowered by DSWD's Tulong Eskwela Program Through Local Leaders' Support

A wave of support has reached 1,500 students from Agusan del Sur State College of Agriculture and Technology (ASSCAT), as the Tulong Eskwela Program, under the Department of Social Welfare and Development’s Ayuda Para sa Kapos ang Kita Program (AKAP), made its impact felt. Local legislators, including Congressman Alfel Bascug and Congressman Adolph Edward “Eddiebong” Plaza, spearheaded the initiative, ensuring the grants reached those who need them most.

The event saw a gathering of local leaders, with Governor Santiago “Santi” B. Cane Jr., Vice Governor Samuel “Sammy” E. Tortor, and Ms. Patricia Anne “Ate Pat” Plaza, the Chief of Staff for the 1st District and Head Executive Assistant for the 2nd District, gracing the ceremony. Also joining the occasion were SP members, Mayor Sylvia B. Elorde, and the SB members of LGU Bunawan.

College President Dr. Joy C. Capistrano expressed her gratitude for the program’s implementation at ASSCAT, saying, “This initiative provides not only financial assistance but also hope and opportunity for our students to continue pursuing their dreams”.

With words of encouragement, Cong. Eddiebong, Ate Pat, and Governor Cane urged the scholars to prioritize their essential needs and make the most of the assistance provided.

Highlighting the collaborative effort, Cong. Plaza expressed gratitude to House Speaker Martin Romualdez and President Ferdinand Bongbong Marcos Jr. for extending this opportunity to Agusan del Sur’s youth.
In closing, the Team Eddiebong reaffirmed their commitment to ASSCAT’s vision of becoming a “globally engaged institution of sustainable agriculture and innovation,” pledging their continued support to ensure a “greener” future for the institution.
