Agusan del Sur State College of Agriculture and Technology (ASSCAT) recently participated in the nationwide commemoration of the 4th Higher Education Day and 30th CHED Founding Anniversary, contributing to a regional celebration that highlighted the pivotal role of education in shaping lives and promoting inclusivity.
Under the guidance of ASSCAT President, Dr. Joy Capistrano, and Vice President for Student Affairs and Services, VP Janice Dini-ay, the college delegation actively engaged in the regional kick-off ceremony held in Butuan City.
In her impassioned address, CHED Caraga’s OIC Regional Director, Alma Sy-Patron, underscored the profound impact of higher education on enhancing lives and ensuring inclusivity, particularly for marginalized groups.
The celebration also featured a thought-provoking film screening of ‘The Blood Brothers,’ starring Cesar Montano. The film delves into Philippine history pre-Islam and explores the dynamics of cultural differences through the story of two brothers. It provided a poignant reflection on the transformative power of education, illustrating how it can both bridge and create divides within communities. The film also highlighted the involvement of prominent personalities from the Commission on Higher Education (CHED).
The event served as a platform for reflection, dialogue, and cultural appreciation, reinforcing the commitment of ASSCAT and other HEIs to contribute to the advancement of education and societal progress.
