𝘉𝘶𝘯𝘢𝘸𝘢𝘯, 𝘈𝘨𝘶𝘴𝘢𝘯 𝘥𝘦𝘭 𝘚𝘶𝘳, 𝘑𝘶𝘭𝘺 31, 2024 – The Agusan del Sur State College of Agriculture and Technology (ASSCAT) celebrated the completion of its new iconic main entrance gate with a formal inauguration ceremony.

 

The new gate, designed by Architect Romilyn L. Mendiola of ZJN Development Construction and Supply Corporation, was completed ahead of its 90-day contract schedule. The project was closely monitored by the ASSCAT Project Management Unit to ensure timely completion and adherence to project specifications.

 

Architect Mendiola, an alumnus of SANAC (former name of ASSCAT), incorporated elements of rice crops into the design, symbolizing growth, unity, and resilience. As an agricultural State University and College (SUC), ASSCAT’s gate design reflects its core values and mission. The gate’s vertical columns mimic the growth of rice stalks, while the gable roof mirrors the iconic A-shaped design. This A-shaped design embodies the initial “A” of ASSCAT and also coincidentally aligns with its future as a full-fledged university, Agusan del Sur State University (ADSSU).

 

The ceremony included an offer of prayer and blessing led by Ptr. Ronie M. Perolino of Free Methodist Church Bunawan, adding a spiritual dimension to the event and highlighting the community’s shared values.

 

In her acceptance message, College President Joy C. Capistrano highlighted the gate’s significance: “This gate imposes instruction, order, and authority. More importantly, it reflects protection, symbolizing that ASSCAT as an institution will protect those within and what lies within.”

 

The ceremony was attended by key members of the ASSCAT community, including Vice Presidents, Deans, Directors, Unit Heads, faculty, staff, and students.

 

The new entrance gate stands as a testament to ASSCAT’s commitment to providing a secure and inspiring educational environment. This significant milestone reflects ASSCAT’s vision of fostering growth, unity, and resilience within its community, aligning with its goal of becoming a globally engaged institution of sustainable agriculture and innovation.
