The Inter-School Grassroots Innovation Competition and Exposition (GICE) Pitching Competition. The event was held at ICT Function Hall at ASSCAT with great enthusiasm and excitement, marking the second round of preliminary screening for the upcoming regional GICE Expo 2024. This competition serves as a crucial stepping stone for young innovators aiming to showcase their talents at the regional level during the Regional Science and Technology Week (RSTW) Celebration from June 6-9, 2024, at Robinsonβs Mall, Butuan City.

The event began with a warm and inspiring Welcome Remarks delivered by Dr. Ferdinand Dumalagan, the Director of Innovation and Development. Dr. Dumalagan emphasized the importance of fostering innovation among students and encouraged all participants to continue pursuing their inventive ideas. Also present at the event were GRIND Focal and Faculty of ASSCAT Ms. Jacky Lyn B. Maestrado, Ms. Melchora Marzo, CTE Research Coordinator, Engr. Jade Ga and Engr.Christine Buyan of DOST Caraga.

The heart of the event, the Pitching Presentation, featured innovative projects from students of ASSCAT. Sixteen students presented their grassroots innovations, each aiming to address various societal challenges with creative and practical solutions. The presentations were met with keen interest and appreciation from the audience, which included faculty members, and fellow students.

The winning teams were awarded certificates and prizes, and they earned the opportunity to advance to the regional GICE Expo 2024, where they will compete with other top innovators from across the region. The event not only highlighted the innovative spirit of ASSCAT students but also underscored the importance of supporting grassroots innovations in addressing real-world challenges.
