Team Eddiebong, including Congressman Adolph Edward “Eddiebong” G. Plaza, Governor Santiago “Santi” B. Cane, Congressman Alfelito “Alfel” M. Bascug, and Vice-Governor Samuel “Sammy” E. Tortor, alongside officials from the Provincial Government of Agusan del Sur (PGAS), paid a visit to the Agusan del Sur State College of Agriculture and Technology (ASSCAT) today, April 5, 2024.

 

The delegation toured the Soil Science Research Institute at ASSCAT, where they had the opportunity to observe the facility’s equipment and engage in discussions regarding the institution’s ongoing efforts to elevate its status to that of a full-fledged agricultural university. Key topics of conversation included the enhancement of agricultural programs, academic initiatives, and the advancement of research and development. Team Eddiebong reiterated their staunch support for the Soil Science Research Institute at ASSCAT.

 

Dr. Joy C. Capistrano, the College President of ASSCAT, extended a warm welcome to Team Eddiebong, along with the Vice Presidents, Deans, Directors, faculty, staff, and students. The delegation then proceeded to the Native Grafted Durian nursery, where they interacted with students from the College of Agriculture. During the visit, students showcased the grafting process, demonstrating their expertise in the field.

 

Congressman Plaza expressed interest in expanding the propagation of Native Durian in the province, with a focus on leveraging soil science testing to support these efforts.
