July 15-16, 2020 — ASSCAT organized the Seminar-Workshop on Public Information and Community Relations for the students, faculty, and staff who are responsible for posting information or articles via online and print media.

The College President, Dr. Joy C. Capistrano, graced the activity and inspired the male and female participants with her message anchored on the phrase “T.H.I.N.K. before you post.”

Dr. Capistrano emphasized that a social media user especially a reporter from this College must see to it that the information to be posted is TRUE to avoid confusion, HELPFUL to calm reader’s feelings, INSPIRING to awaken reader’s enthusiasm, NECESSARY to the reader’s need, and KIND to protect the reader’s emotion.

The participants acquired knowledge about Data Privacy Act, ASSCAT Freedom of Information (FOI), Cybercrime Law, Creating and Managing Fb Page, Writing Feature Article and News Article, Proofreading, Photojournalism, Gender-Fair Language and GAD Mainstreaming in articles, and Graphic Designing Using Canva. The participants were able to submit outputs from the workshop.

The Head of the Public Information and Community Relations Office expressed his heartfelt thanks to the College President for the trust and support that led to the success of the activity and closed the program by saying “you (participants) were chosen by your unit heads to attend this seminar-workshop because they know that you will be of great help in bridging ASSCAT to its stakeholders in the cyberphysical world the soonest possible time with efficiency and quality.
