ASSCAT produces Class B National Referee and Judge in Arnis

Dr. Juarlito V. Garcines endorsed Mr. Edlor E. Turtoga to participate the National Coaching and Officiating Training Workshop organized by the Federation of School Sports Association of the Philippines in cooperation with Technological University of the Philippines on August 1 – 3, 2018.

Dr. Garcines is one of the sports enthusiasts College President in Caraga Region who was once elected as PASUC Caraga Sports Chairperson. In his time, lots of gold medals were achieved by the athletes in the SCUAA National Games.

Dr. Garcines emphasized during the 1st ASSCAT SUC President Rapid Chess Open Summer Clinic and Tournament that he sent Mr. Turtoga in the said conference and proudly announced during his inspirational message that “I already sent Mr. Tortuga in a national coaching and officiating training cum workshop for Arnis so we can also establish this Philippine founded sports for martial arts.” published that Arnis is also known as Kali or Eskrima, the national sport and martial art of the Philippines. The three are roughly interchangeable umbrella terms for the traditional martial arts of the Philippines (“Filipino Martial Arts”, or FMA) that emphasize weapon-based fighting with sticks, knives, bladed weapons, and various improvised weapons as well as “open hand” or techniques without weapons.

Mr. Turtoga was able to get the highest rank in the accreditation as Class B National Referee and Judge. He was also chosen by the FESSAP as Coordinator for Arnis Caraga Region. A challenge to Mr. Turtoga where ASSCAT family is really proud of.

Dr. Garcines never failed to trust the skills and abilities of his faculty and staff, and Mr. Turtoga did make the President so proud.
